Consciousness and Weight Lost

Updated: Sep 14, 2023

Are you constantly feeding your Inner Child—the one who is always hungry?

"We get used to an eating cycle of overeating, feeling guilty about the overeating, and then trying to control it. Then up comes hunger, and with the hunger comes guilt, then appetite, then the expectation of satiation, followed by overindulgence, and guilt again, so there is an endless self-defeating cycle. The only way to beat it is to rise above it, transcend it, and be beyond it."

David R. Hawkins, MD, PhD. Taken from his book Healing and Recovery.

The 2023, October Detox is approaching soon, and I wanted to take a moment to address consciousness and food. This will be discussed further in Nokomis, Florida, but I thought I would offer a little taste of what’s to come…

There is a way to let go of excess weight that is practical, easy, and free. It takes about an hour of your attention over a period of a couple of days—perfect for a 3-day cleanse. We begin by addressing consciousness as a way to connect with our strong inner truths. The first thing to do is to have an ideal image of ourselves or a perfect body weight in mind. Use visualization to launch this consciousness process. Next learn to use the word “cancel” with all old beliefs on foods and weight. Cancel the old belief that diets are necessary, fat genes run in the family, fat child, fat adult, fat cells, getting older and can’t exercise, menopause, and more. It is helpful to list some of your beliefs up front, so you are not surprised when they consciously show up. Tip: I will tell you that not all people’s bodies are set up to absorb all the calories they consume—so stop counting calories. Another old belief—"burning calories.”

The main concept that we will work with is that whenever sensation is felt in the gut, (I’m hungry), we don’t resist. We learn to let go of labeling and just encounter the feeling. So, as we go deeper into the experience, we move up to a higher level of awareness. The Tao uses the example of the flowing willow tree as it bends with the wind. We become as flexible as the willow tree. The goal is to master the gut with the mind through awareness (consciousness). We change our familiar eating times (habits) by not eating when there is sensation to eat. Thus, we don’t overeat and over time, the hunger pain completely goes away. For instance, if you always eat at 6:00 p.m., try instead to eat at 4:45 p.m. or when you are not hungry. You soon will be free to master of your own consumption and weight simply by becoming aware.

How does the inner child play into this whole game. Well, we all have an inner fussy child, an overly responsible adult, and a scolding parent. All three personas (there may be more) exist within us. What usually happens is that our inner child eats ice cream, pasta, cakes, candy bars, sugary fruit drinks and alcohol for comfort. The adult who is supposed to be supervising the child is nowhere around, so up rears the inner scolding parent. The parent is very happy to attack the child for overeating, eating the wrong foods, and drinking too much alcohol. (Keep in mind, alcohol is a sugary food.) Now you feel horrible and start to look for the responsible adult to come and save the day. Most people play this wild game of overindulgence and punishing themselves their entire lives. Our adult self eventually comes to rescue the child only for a while until the sabotaging, freedom-seeker child takes over once again. The disruption comes from lack of self-love. Self-hatred is the core behind sabotaging with food and alcohol. I will say that most of the people on this planet have a hard time with love—love of others, for God, and mostly love of self, so they tend to maintain a strong (unconscious) self-hatred psychological profile.

The Detox Cleanse is being held in Nokomis, Florida, USA. Within the 3-days, October 27, 28, 29, we will discuss our bodies, minds/emotions/ego, and spirit. We observe ourselves in a different way. Cleansing is not just doing some kriyas (breath work), meditation, and eating specific organic superfoods. Cleansing is consciousness and supports the mind, body, spirit constitution. It is a sacred time to honor our eating habits and the foods we knowingly or unknowingly place into our mouths. Cleansing is true empowerment on so many levels. Maintaining a healthy weight for your body type is only one of the ways to self-empowerment.
